4 STORIES TO HELP CHILDREN BECOME HAPPY AGAIN
In different ways, the four stories in this book show the most common reactions of children who are mourning the loss of their united family. Children are able to identify themselves to some of these characters, which express the different feelings that they may be experiencing. Some problem solving strategies are suggested through the characters.
This 49-page booklet is presented in a brightly colored 8.5" X 11" format (21,6 x 27,9 cm). Each story, which features one of the characters shown on the cover, is illustrated with an attractive ready-to-color drawing, for a total of 35 drawings.
A message for parents places the booklet in context, suggests ways to optimize the benefits for their children and introduces each story with a description of the themes covered. (French version available)

The preface
Marie-Claire Laurendeau, who holds a doctorate in psychology, has graciously agreed to sign the preface to this booklet. Her professional accomplishments include the design and implementation of the « Parents Magazine » pilot project, which became the (French) magazine « Grandir » distributed free of charge through Métro grocery stores. She also initiated and directed the « Ma famille, la garderie et moi » research and intervention program. These two achievements are eloquent testimony to her expertise in early childhood.
The texts
The author, Madeleine Grenier Laperrière, holds a master's degree in social work. A social worker for over 30 years, almost all of her career has been dedicated to the family. This collection and its content were born specifically out of the following professional commitments:
In 1983, she founded the professional consultation telephone service, EDUCATION-COUP-DE-FIL, which she directed for over 10 years. In parallel with this service, for six years she created and led the « L'après-séparation et le vécu parents / enfants » workshops. In 1998, the Canadian Association of Social Workers presented her its Award for Outstanding Service, for Quebec.
The illustrations
Hélène Laperrière, her daughter, holds a bachelor's degree in psychoeducation and has worked several years with young children. Her in-depth practical experience with children has enabled her to translate her knowledge and natural talent into refreshing, true-to-life drawings expressing the emotions young children may feel.
